CARSAIG COTTAGE Tayvallich is a picturesque village situated on the West Coast of Scotland. It is at the head of Loch Sween near the Crinan Canal. The cottage has a magnificent position looking straight out across Tayvallich Bay towards the hills beyond. Mid Argyll is ideally situated for touring the West Coast with - The Mull of Kintyre to the South. Oban and the Highlands to the North. Inner and Outer Hebrides to the West. The local area is steeped in history, with a multitude of archaeological sites to be visited and explored. There are a diverse number of both forestry and hill walks to be found, as well as other outdoor activities including game (trout) and sea fishing, bird watching, cycling, sailing, windsurfing, with a golf course and swimming pool at Lochgilphead. Tayvallich has a nationally renowned restaurant where the dinner menu is highly recommended by Egon Ronay. Both lunch and bar meals are available which need not be booked. There is also a village Post office, and a small village store which sells most goods, including fresh fruit and vegetables. Lochgilphead, which is 11 miles away, is the nearest sizeable town. It has many craft shops, a supermarket and a wide variety of restaurants and takeaways.
The accommodation is very much a family home. The accommodation is both comfortable and extremely homely. It sleeps 6 people. - Upstairs - one double bed in one room, twin beds in the other. Downstairs - One twin bed room. There are two bathrooms, the one upstairs has a wash basin, w/c and a bath, while the one downstairs has a w/c and a wash basin. There is also a shower situated on the ground floor. The family kitchen is very spacious, with a cooker, fridge, microwave and dishwasher. Adjoining this is a large eating area with an extendible dining table. There is also a utility room with a deep freeze and washing machine. The front room, overlooking the bay, is a cosy sitting-room with an open fire . The cottage has off peak central heaters found throughout the house as well as convector heaters in all of the bedrooms.
Unfortunately, there is a general rule of no pets allowed at the cottage. Please provide your own linen. Downies and pillows are provided and can be found on beds.
The weekly rates are as follows_ Nov., Dec., Jan., Feb - £330 March., April - £380 June., May., Sept., Oct., £420 July., August., Whitsun holiday - £480 There is a non-refundable deposit of £50 required when booking the cottage, and the balance is to be paid two weeks before entry.
