TAYVALLICH VILLAGE HALL AND PLAYING FIELD

Until
1924 the village had no hall, and all functions took place in the
school. In that year, however, the
community was presented by the owner of Scotnish with an army hut from
the First World War, which served the village well until after World War 11 when it was felt
to be inadequate. Money was
then gathered for a new hall which was completed in 1955.

The hall is now an integral part of the community and is used virtually
every day of the year for a wide range of clubs and is possibly best
known to visitors as the location for village dances and ceilidhs. The
adjacent field had been used as a playing field for many years and
was improved in the 1980’s. In 1997 the Hall Committee funded and
built a very popular childrens’ playpark with swings, slide and other
amusements. This is a popular attraction for visitors with children and
the field is often used for football matches and is a focal point at The
Tayvallich Weekend.
